Venusaur Strategic Guide

Movesets

Set 1

Venusaur Sprite

Venusaur @ Leftovers

EV:172 HP / 188 Spd / 76 SAtk / 72 SDef

Bold Nature - +Def -Atk

- Magical Leaf
- Sleep Powder
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed
This is the standard moveset. With Venusaurs extremely awesome SDef and high SAtk to boot, this makes an excellent stall Pokémon. You Sleep Powder something to get on it's nerves, recover off damage caused and then Leech Seed. Magical Leaf from then on to attack. Venusaur can execute this very well. Magical Leaf is obtained via breeding with a Roselia

Set 2

Venusaur Sprite

Venusaur @ Leftovers

EV:172 HP / 188 Spd / 76 Atk / 72 SDef

Impish Nature - +Def -SAtk

- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Swords Dance
- Leech Seed

This is much similar to the above set, except with the use of the Attack stat. You basically put something to sleep, Leech Seed them, Swords Dance as much as you can, and then Sludge Bomb which hurts alot of things. Very, very, stylish

Set 3

Venusaur Sprite

Venusaur @ Leftovers

EV:172 HP / 252 Atk / 86 Spd

Adamant Nature - +Atk -SAtk

- Swords Dance
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
- Magical Leaf

Pure physical sweeping set: Magical Leaf is there for physical walls who can easily survive hits you fire at them.

Set 4

Venusaur Sprite

Venusaur @ Leftovers

EV:172 HP / 188 Spd / 76 SAtk / 72 SDef

Bold Nature - +Def -Atk

- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Toxic
- Magical Leaf

SubSeedToxic: watch out for certain things

Other Options

If you're battling online you can go for HP Fire and HP Ice; both for nailing Salamence and Skarmory who resist Magical Leaf/Sludge Bomb. You can also use Sunny Day + Solarbeam I guess, but it's not too good due to him not having Chlorophyll. Charm can also work.

Analysis

A very cool stall Pokémon; arguably not the best choice for a team in terms of offence but can't take Special Attacks and some Attacks well.

Counters

Skarmory and Salamence will generally shut you down no matter what. Celebi can beat you; special walls, especially Hypno, can give you troubles.

Using it

Best used as a stall Pokémon
